  • 301: Tex Machina: AI, Energy and Water in Texas

    Artificial intelligence is transforming Texas in ways few people fully see. In Tex Machina, energy expert Dr. Michael E. Webber examines the enormous electricity and water demands driving the AI boom. Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Mat Hames, the film travels across Texas—from data centers and oil fields to research labs, wind farms, and small towns. With cinematic footage and a grounded perspective, Tex Machina explores whether Texas can meet this extraordinary demand while protecting its power grid, water resources, and communities, while considering both the opportunities and risks of AI.

    Melody Maids offers a cinematic tribute to Eloise Milam and the more than 1,500 young women who carried music from Beaumont, Texas, to military bases and hospitals around the world from 1942 to 1972, preserving their extraordinary legacy through firsthand memories, photographs, diaries, and news clippings that reveal a story of service, friendship, and the enduring power of music.

    Unmodified offers a cinematic look at the Texas Panhandle’s tabletop gaming community, where Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Warhammer, and other roleplaying games become a catalyst for creativity, collaboration, and connection, celebrating the storytellers who find community by building imaginative worlds together.

  • 305: Segregation on Trial: Integrating Georgetown Schools 

    Committee for Better Schools chronicles the story of African American residents in Georgetown, Texas, who challenged segregation in public schools during the 1950s and 1960s, bringing their fight for educational equality to the courts and preserving the voices and experiences of those who helped shape the community’s path toward desegregation.

  • 306: Foreverland: The Story of the Barton Creek Greenbelt

    Foreverland tells the remarkable story behind Austin’s Barton Creek Greenbelt, tracing the early 1990s grassroots effort led by Beverly Griffith, Butch Smith, Ted Siff, and George Cofer to secure the Barton Creek Wilderness Park and preserve a treasured natural landscape that became a foundation for generations of conservation across the city.

New Season Coming in October

We are thrilled to announce eight films have been selected for Season 3 of Made in Texas, Texas PBS’s documentary showcase dedicated to the storytellers, places, and people that define our state. After reviewing 18 submissions from filmmakers across Texas, the Texas PBS Content Committee has selected a diverse and compelling slate of films that reflect the full breadth of Texas — geographically, culturally, and historically.

From the Texas Panhandle to the Gulf Coast, from Beaumont to Austin, and from Georgetown to Houston, this season’s selections represent Texas in all its complexity. The Content Committee’s goal was clear: elevate stories that might not otherwise find a platform and bring them to audiences across the state through the power of public media.

  • Austin City Limits

    Austin City Limits (ACL), the longest-running music series in U.S. history, showcases music legends across all genres. It’s the only TV show honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and awarded the National Medal of Arts.

  • The Daytripper

    This nine-time Emmy Award-winning travel series explores Texas towns in one-day adventures, with host Chet Garner uncovering both famous landmarks and hidden gems across the state.
