Before the national headlines, before the sweeping legislation, there were local communities, and local courage. This documentary tells the story of African American residents in Georgetown, Texas, who joined the citizen group Committee for Better Schools in the 1950s and 1960s to file lawsuits challenging segregation in Georgetown public schools. Produced by the City of Georgetown, the film includes interviews with and footage of those who lived through the desegregation effort.
