Made in Texas: Episode 101 Now Available for Streaming
Episode 101 of Made in Texas is now available to stream on the PBS website. The episode kicks off the series with two great Lone Star films: Chasing the Tide and Underdawgs. Both documentaries initially aired on Texas PBS stations the week of October 6.
Chasing the Tide follows the 21-day trek of husband-wife adventurers Chrissy and Jay Kleberg, who travelled throughout Texas’ seven barrier islands and explored the coast’s history and wildlife. In six parts, the documentary sheds light on the various ways climate change harms the coast, as well as the Texans who are working to preserve its vitality.
Produced by students at Texas Christian University, Underdawgs profiles Austin Underwood, the owner of Fort Worth-based hot dog truck Austin’s Underdawgs. The documentary chronicles Underwood’s advocacy for Down Syndrome, with interviews from himself and family members discussing both the challenges he has faced and the joy he has brought his community.
With the collaboration of PBS station teams and independent producers, Made in Texas showcases Lone Star stories made by Texas filmmakers.
